Successful eradication of H. pylori halted the progression of gastric precancerous conditions; however, it did not guarantee that gastric cancer would not develop. Persistent gastric inflammation is one of the factors to predict disease progress of precancerous conditions. It hints the potential role of gastric microbiota in gastric inflammation and carcinogenesis after eradicating H. pylori.
